IFBCON Day 1 – Part 2

IFBCON Day 1 – done and done. While I definitely have suggestions for making future IFBCON events run more smoothly, yesterday turned out to be quite informative and fun. We were treated to chatting with this great panel of people involved in the fashion industry and social and print media.

From Left to Right:
Christine Ng, ShopStyle @ShopStyle
Carla Dunham, Saks Fifth Avenue @Saks
Karen Robinovitz, Digital Brand Architects @therealDBA
Andrea Lavinthal, People.com @AndiLavs
Scott Lipps, One Management @ScottLipps
YM Ousley, Signature9 @Signature9
Mary Alice Stephenson, Fashion & Beauty Expert @MaryAliceStyle
Andrea Derricks, L2 Think Tank @L2ThinkTank

While all the panelists were good, the standout for me was YM Ousley of Signature9 (holding the mic in the picture above). She is so well informed on the business of blogging and shared dozens of ways to build your brand. I’m so thankful I got to see her in this panel and a break out session later in the day.

I was also introduced to Julep nail polish and got a complimentary manicure! I’m in love with this navy polish (I forgot to grab the name so I’ll update that once I get back to the con today.)

Finally, we learned about this kick ass application called Stipple, which in a nutshell, enables you to copyright your pictures as they make their way across the Internet. Leveraging an image processing and recognizing technology, Stipple can track your photos on the Internet even if someone grabs a screenshot! Genius, no? Beyond that, it has some extraordinary features which I hope to incorporate in the blog soon. Stay tuned for that! Watch the video below to learn more about it:

Here is what I wore:

sheer blouse : zara | oxblood skinny jeans : target | black and white leopard flats : old navy | necklaces : hrh collection and baublebar

Florals and denim

Today was a business casual day at the office.  Translation – denim.  If and when I wear denim to the office (which is a rare occasion), I always opt for dark denim.  An all day internal meeting calls for nothing but comfort.  I immediately reached for a pair of dark denim and this blouse.  I added the shoes for a little bit of height and color.

Do you wear denim to the office?

I’m loving skulls

Skulls have been around for a while, but have recently been more prominent thanks to the amazing creations of Alexander McQueen.  They didn’t really call out my name until I came across this beauty during a Birthday Dinner at Beauty and Essex.  The bag retailed for $2000.00, it just was WAY more than I would ever dream about spending on a trendy item like this.  After much research, I found the maker of the bag – Shay Accessories, and found it retailing for $1500.00…still WAY out of my price range.  Needless to say, I walked away disappointed, but with a new found love for skulls!

While doing some Birthday shopping I came across this top and knew I had to have it.  Not the $2000.00 priced bag (that I STILL dream about) but at a reasonable price that I felt comfortable spending.

Would you have bought the bag? (Confession, I’m still considering it!)
