It’s been over two months since we last updated so this is going to be quite the photo-filled post for you guys. We sincerely apologize for going dark on everyone — unfortunately, our blog took a bit of a hit in the priority department this summer. We look forward to coming back though and hope to give you some good outfit inspiration as well as discuss some new topics.
For those of you who follow me on on instagram, you may know that I, the burbs half of City and Burbs, am expecting my first child in November! I could write for pages on the experience, our Hypnobabies classes, nutrition, Crossfitting, et cetera but for the purposes of this post, I’ll focus on the fashion. Good lord it’s hard to find stuff to wear when your body is changing so dramatically! I’ll admit, it was really hard at first but once I figured out these three things, dressing the bump for work (and beyond) have actually been fun.
- Invest in belly bands of some sort — the Be Bands at Target are nice but kind of pricey. I purchased a set of 5 Bella Vonna Belly Bands from eBay and they’ve helped extend the use of my regular clothes SO much. I’d be lost without them.
- Blazers are the key to looking put together. This applies to non-pregnant times too but in pregnancy, my blazers have been a lifesaver. Even though I’ve been getting bigger, blazers help to add some waist definition and help me feel like I’m not so big. I’m pretty sure I wear them every day.
- Stalk LOFT 60% off sales. I was horrified at how much quality maternity clothes cost at places like Pea in the Pod — it’s downright robbery. I don’t even pay that much for regular clothes. After some research, I found the LOFT maternity collection (only available online unfortunately) which is actually excellent quality and remembered that they constantly have 60% off flash sales. Well, as a result, most of my maternity clothing now has come from there and it hasn’t been a daunting investment. (I also got a few pieces from Zulily and ASOS Maternity – both great resources for maternity wear.)
I could be a tease and spread my outfits out over a bunch of posts but I owe you guys some pics, so here is a roundup of some of the outfits I’ve been wearing over the few months. (Forgive the crappy quality selfies, but I lost my tripod. )
