I’ve had this mocha peplum dress for about 2 years and I’m ashamed to say, I’ve only worn it once (it was under $30 at Annie Sez so I’m not too torn up about the price per wear.) I think what kept me away was that there was nothing to spice up the very neutral color. But then, I saw this snake print belt at a Loft outlet a few weeks ago and instantly imagined this look. I picked it up for 50% off and the rest is history. I predict you’re going to be seeing this belt on the blog quite often this season.

Also, I want to mention a little tidbit that I picked up from an article I read this summer on Babble about Marina Dobreva – “Tips From a J.Crew Personal Stylist”:
Add an Oversized Belt
Marina says she never looks for belt sizes anymore…she just grabs the longest one she can find. It gives you options for tucking it in, looping it around each other, etc.
I used this tip when I bought this belt so there was a lot of belt overhang past the clasp. In order to remedy that I used a clear hair elastic to keep the belt flap in place. It’s practically invisible!
Finally, just because I’m practically dying inside of anticipation, I have to mention it. Tonight is the season premiere of VAMPIRE DIARIES!!! Who’s watching!?!

So, you picked up that dress before the peplum trend really started!
I always buy my belts in a larger size because I like to loop and knot them, but I never thought of a clear elastic to hold it in place. Genius!
You look so classy and chic! That dress is gorgeous and the belt is the perfect touch!
